Jaclyn Hitchcock is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia, a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), serving children, adolescents and families in the Alpharetta area. Jaclyn obtained her Masters of Science degree from Argosy University in Atlanta, and her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from The University of Georgia in Athens.
Jaclyn is very passionate about working with children and adolescents; and has worked with these populations individually, in family therapy and in group therapy. She strives to create a warm and accepting environment for her clients to explore their problems and to grow from them; knowing that children will express and explore emotional experiences only when they feel safe. She uses an eclectic approach to therapy, implementing techniques from various theories to best fit the needs of her clients and their unique situations. When using play therapy, Jaclyn often utilizes both directive and non directive strategies. Jaclyn also utilizes play, sand tray, art, bibliotherapy, and games in her work with children. Additionally, it is very important to Jaclyn to provide coping skills to her clients, so that they are better prepared to deal with the stressors in their lives. She believes that play therapy empowers children to express their thoughts, feelings, and troubles, whether or not they have the verbal language to do so. When working with adolescents, Jaclyn provides a non-judgmental, open space for her clients to feel comfortable sharing their problems and issues.
Jaclyn has experience working with a wide range of issues, including:
